Odoo and AI
AI brings forecasts and anomaly detection to your ERP
A traditional ERP tells you what has happened. With AI the same data also tells you what is likely to happen next and where you should react.
How AI is adopted under control
AI is not a separate project but an addition to an existing process. That is why it is worth scoping tightly.
- 01Data quality
We check whether the base data is clean enough to build a forecast on.
- 02Scoping
We pick one use case where the benefit can be measured.
- 03Pilot
The model runs alongside the current way of working.
- 04Measurement
We compare the forecast with the actuals before anything is automated.
- 05Expansion
A use case that works is expanded, the rest are left out.
Where AI fits
Three use cases where the benefit shows quickly
AI is at its strongest when there is a lot of data and the question repeats.
Anomaly detection
Out of a large number of transactions, the rows that do not follow the usual pattern stand out, so an error is found before it reaches a report.
Forecasting demand and sales
History, seasons and lead times combine into a forecast you can use in purchasing and production planning.
Automating routine decisions
Repetitive and rule based decisions can be automated once the approval limits have been agreed in advance.
Inventory management
A sharper forecast reduces the capital tied up in inventory
When the demand forecast is better, the inventory management replenishments can be timed more precisely.
The right quantity at the right time
Replenishment is based on the forecast rather than a reorder point alone, so stockouts and overstocking both fall.
Less capital tied up in inventory
When the buffer does not have to be kept large just in case, capital is freed for other uses.
Better delivery reliability
Availability stays steadier, which the customer sees as delivery times that hold.
Sales and customers
Sales focuses on the customers with the most potential
The same data that sales already records also tells you where to focus right now.
Predictable sales
The history of the pipeline produces a forecast that does not rest on the salesperson estimate alone.
Real time visibility
The state of the customer and the next action are visible in the same view as the rest of the ERP.
Less manual work
Entries and summaries are created in the background, so time goes to the customer rather than to reporting.
Where AI does not fit
The limits are worth saying out loud at the start
AI does not solve everything, and placed in the wrong spot it adds work. We state the limits plainly.
AI does not fix incomplete base data
If products, stock balances or customer records are untidy, the forecast is untidy in the same proportion. Cleaning the data comes first.
AI does not decide the accounting
Accounting and tax returns rest on rules and on responsibility. AI can suggest and compile, but the approval stays with a person.
AI does not replace a missing process
If the way of working has not been agreed, automation only speeds up the confusion. The process is agreed first and automated after.
Why Revise
An Odoo partner that also understands accounting
Revise has been a Finnish software and advisory company since 2016 and an Odoo partner since 2018. Our expertise covers operations, finance, reporting and management, so the AI use case is chosen as part of the whole.
Finance included in the design
We also do accounting, payments and payroll, so the approval limits and the reconciliation are designed at the same time rather than afterwards.
Delivery in stages
We start from one measurable use case so the benefit can be confirmed before expanding.
All the way to management
Revise AI and Revise EPM continue where the ERP ends: forecasts and reporting are built on the same data.
Let us find out where AI brings you the most benefit
Let us go through your data and your processes. We will say plainly which use case to take first and which is not worth it yet.
